Pioneer Park/Grant K8 Mural
Completed in 2009 as a cooperative project between the Mission Hills Town Council, the Grant School Community Foundation and Councilman Kevin Faulconer's office, this blank wall facing Pioneer Park was transformed into a work of art by the local community. This vibrant mural was the brainchild of Paul M. Bowers, a Mission Hills resident, when he started the idea after hours in the park supervising his child, and subsequently searching for projects of mutual benefit for the school and community as Chair of the Grant School Community Foundation. Paul contacted Elizabeth Washburn, the artist behind the Reynard Street flower mural who was the lead painter for the project, and Mark Fehlman who created the concept, and was crucial in its execution. This collaborative effort brought together many Mission Hills residents and organizations to work together for the betterment of our neighborhood. Click here for a news article on the mural.
